Turning back to Jesus

Today's gospel lesson comes to us from Luke 17:11-19 and concerns the healing of ten lepers by Jesus.

United Methodists at Benoits Tonight: Terrific Fun!

We had a great time at the October gathering at the United Methodists Table at Benoits tonight!  We met in their back room for a wonderful time of fellowship and GOOD FOOD!  Yummy!
---------------------------------
Here are the "chat pack" questions the group discussed tonight.
(1) If you were told that you could watch only one television show a week for the next 12 months, which show would you choose to watch?
(2) If you were given a $1,000 gift certificate to spend in any store, where would you choose to redeem it?
(3) If you had the time and money and could go on any month-long summer adventure of your choice, what would you choose to do?
(4) What is something that many people consider a modern-day convenience that you, quite frankly, consider a pain in the neck?
(5) Most people have a favorite story or experience that they love to share with other people. Here’s your chance: What’s your story?
(6) Of all the movie characters you have seen, which one do you believe is most like you?

Present tonight were: Jennifer, Tony & Ruben Aguilar, Belinda and Pastor Charles, Jack & Peggy Garner, Roy & Alice Kephart, Bill & Bobbie Lester, Cytha Peters, Jack & Sherry Phillips and Mike Sherrod.

Change in date for UMM

Prayer chain request

A call came in to the church tonight requesting the activation of the First UMC prayer chain.  Please lift up McCamey resident Elmer J. who is dealing with health concerns in a Midland-area hospital.

First UMC @ The Convalescent Center

Bill Lester and Pastor Charles joined several of the McCamey men this morning at the McCamey Convalescent Center for coffee and donuts with the residents.  This is always a treat, hearing stories and sharing the ministry of presence with these nice people!

Midweek Message for October 6th

A Prayer for Discernment

Almighty God, in a world of change You placed eternity in our hearts and gave us power to discern good from evil.

Grant us sincerity, that we may persistently seek the things that endure, refusing those which perish, and that, amid things vanishing and deceptive, we may see the truth steadily, follow the light faithfully, and grow ever richer in that love which is the life of all people; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
