Badgers @ First UMC! (part 2)

The sound of laughter filled the hall this afternoon, and the assembled alumni wasted no time in catching up with classmates, some of whom had traveled a great distance to be here.  Many alumni who had connections with the First UMC toured the church, reminiscing about their days in Methodist Youth Fellowship, the choir and about who did what during worship services!

Badgers @ First UMC! (part 1)

The fellowship hall was filled with badgers this afternoon, and what an afternoon it was!  Debbie White, Bill & Bobbie Lester and Pastor Charles provided the hospitality for the gathering.

As the alumni arrived, they were asked to sign in, and everyone was given some "Badger Popcorn."  A number of guests availed themselves of the commemorative church plates, and many signed up to receive the monthly church e-newsletter.

Our church served as the primary gathering place for the "Class of 1965," which included a number of former church members.  These included: Willy Bond, Don Bromley, Bill "Twoie" Darby, Elaine Haywood, Benny Judkins, Frankie Kennedy, Tana (Bromley) Robertson and Kala (Bromley) Stover.

It's a Badger Weekend in McCamey!

The McCamey High School all-class reunion is taking place this weekend, and we are ready for the "exes" here at the First UMC!

On Saturday afternoon, the FUMC is serving as one of the gathering places for Badger alumni.  We'll have a gift for everyone who stops by the church.

Sunday morning during our worship service, we'll be offering a special "Blessing of the Badgers" as part of our time together.

This morning at the Convalescent Center

Pastor Charles and Bill Lester joined the regular "coffee & donut volunteers" this morning at the McCamey Convalescent Center.

There was a lot going on as the buzz going around the dining room centered on the McCamey High School all-class reunion.  The reunion is scheduled for Friday and Saturday here in McCamey and the residents were looking forward to classmates and former students stopping by for a visit.

More Progress on the Memorial Fountain

They made more progress on the memorial fountain at the wellness center today.  They expect to be done by this Saturday!  Praise be to God for clever folks who can build fountains to refresh people's spirits!

Are you ready for the Badgers?

Special Prayers at the New Memorial Fountain

This morning, Pastor Charles and Belinda Alkula accompanied Bill Lester and Lupe Ramirez to the construction site of the new memorial fountain in front of the wellness center.

This memorial fountain will be dedicated in memory of Justin Lester and in honor of Amy Lester Gray, the children of Bobbie and Bill Lester... and in memory of two other former citizens of McCamey (to be announced).

Time was of the essence!  In the center of the fountain, underneath the tarp, a blue glass stone, a blue cross, a silver cross and an orange rock, were lovingly placed... before the workmen continued their work (and those precious items were forever covered).  Prayers were said.  We thanked God for the gift of the lives of those citizens of McCamey who have touched our lives in so many special ways!  What a wondrous day it was today!  Praise be to God!!!
