Each year, at the start of the new school year, the church's United Methodist Women's (UMW's) group requests items be donated for inclusion in the "welcome baskets" that are given to new teachers/staff members of the McCamey Independent School District (MISD). We are told that there are ten new folks to the MISD.
The black baskets measure 8"x9"x6" (about the size we used last year). The following items have been donated so far: Hand-held crosses, multi-colored bracelets, church-labeled popcorn and individually wrapped tissues. Also, we have received bright orange tissue paper with which to line the baskets and pencils.
Last year, other donated items included multi-colored post-its, gum, small packages of raisins/nuts, pretzels, M&M's, notecards, stickers, etc. To see what was assembled last year, click here!
ALL WOMEN OF THE CHURCH are cordially invited to participate in the special UMW gathering in a week to help assemble these baskets. We will meet at Bobbie Lester's home on Monday, August 8th, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
